BREAKING: Saudi Arabia Declares War On Energy Drinks

Saudi Arabia banned on Monday the sale of energy drinks at government, health and education facilities and outlawed all forms of advertising for the drinks, including the sponsorship of any sporting, social or cultural events by energy drinks companies.

The sweeping ban was approved during a cabinet meeting held in Riyadh on Monday and came after an Interior Ministry study of “the adverse effects of energy drinks,” the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.

SPA said: “The Cabinet approved a number of actions, including:

1 - To prohibit advertising of any energy drink or do advertising or promotional campaigns for any energy drink via any readable, audible or visible media organ, or by any other means.”

2 - To prohibit energy drinks companies, their agents, distributors and marketing associations from sponsoring any sporting, social or cultural event, or taking any procedure leading to promotion.

3 - To prohibit the free distribution of energy drinks to consumers of all age groups.

4 - To prohibit the sale of energy drinks in restaurants and canteens in government facilities; education and health facilities; halls and public and private sports clubs.

5 - Upon the decision, factory owners and importers of energy drinks shall be committing to writing a text on the tin of any energy drink in Arabic and English languages - warning of the harmful effects of energy drinks.”

Shrien Dewani Extradited to South Africa 'within 28 days'

A man accused of arranging the murder of his wife on their honeymoon has lost his latest appeal against extradition.

Shrien Dewani, 33, is fighting a return to South Africa to face the charges, which he denies, over the death of his wife Anni in November 2010.

A 28-day period during which he must now be extradited has been triggered.

Mr Dewani's legal team had wanted the appeal to be heard in the highest court in the land - the Supreme Court - but this was refused by a panel of judges.

The businessman from Bristol is being compulsorily detained under the Mental Health Act after being diagnosed as suffering from severe depression and post-traumatic stress disorder.

Mr Dewani's lawyer told Lord Chief Justice Lord Thomas and two other judges at the High Court in London that his "underlying medical condition" may have become chronic, making it "untreatable".

Mark Summers argued more time was needed to fight the ruling, as his health was making him ineligible for extradition.

But, in refusing the application, Lord Thomas said: "The provisions of the Extradition Act are designed to ensure extradition is a speedy process.

"I therefore pronounce [that] any period that is applicable under the relevant legislation will run from today."

Outside the court, Anni's father, Vinod Hindocha, said the family were happy with the decision.

He said the legal process had been "torture" for his family, adding: "I really don't know what happened to my daughter. We need answers. We hope to get justice."

In January, the High Court ruled it would not be "unjust and oppressive" to extradite Mr Dewani providing that assurances were received from South Africa about the length of time he would be kept in the country without trial.

Those assurances have been given.

Mr Dewani is suspected of ordering the killing of his wife, a 28-year-old Swedish national.

The charge dates back to November 2010 when the pair were held at gunpoint while driving through Cape Town in a taxi.

Mr Dewani escaped unharmed but his wife's body was found the following day.

Prosecutors allege South African national Xolile Mngeni, who was later convicted of premeditated murder and jailed for life, had been hired by Mr Dewani to kill his wife.

The legal battle to keep Mr Dewani in England until he is well enough to travel has been ongoing since 2011.

Snow Storm Blankets North-East USA

The storm, which started in the wee hours of today, caused Schools, Government offices and some business not to open for the day. With temperature dropping into the teens (Fahrenheit, minus-7 to minus-10 Celsius) and the normal highs are around 50 (10C) at this point.

The snow dumped up to 10 inches of snow in some areas and as high as 12 in some others causing more than 2,700 flight cancellations.

Oscars 2014: Complete Winners' List

Tinsel town’s night of nights ended with some well-deserved wins across the board, culminating in the award for Best Picture.

An array of brilliants films were up for nomination, but "12 Years a Slave” ultimately took home the honors for its incredible story of Solomon Northup, a free man who struggles to survive as a slave in pre-Civil War America, while Lupita Nyong'o gave a touching tribute speech for her Best Supporting Actress win for the same film.

“Gravity” also proved to be a big winner on Sunday, stealing seven academy awards from Best Director through to Best Visual Effects, even though Sandra Bullock lost out on her Best Actress award to Cate Blanchett who was “blown away” by her win for “Blue Jasmine.”

Meanwhile, Matthew McConaughey and Jared Leto took home Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor respectively for their unforgettable performances in "Dallas Buyers Club."

END TIME: Robbers Attack Vine Branch Church During Service In Ibadan

Every Sunday, people throng to places of worship to be nearer to God. However, as some were trying to get close to God, some have already made up their minds to give their soul to the devil!

During Service today, a seven-man gang of dare-devil Armed Robbers stormed Vine Branch Church located at No. 1 Olubadan Way, Mokola, Ibadan, started shooting sporadically inside the church and robbed members as they were peacefully going through their worship service.

Information reaching Naija Chit-Chat says, two Policemen stationed at the entrance of the church were killed in cold blood, while some members were brutalized and robbed of cash and other valuables like phones, tablets e.tc. Although divine providence prevailed as the Senior Pastor, Rev. (Dr.) Sola Kolade was unhurt.

It would be recalled that this is not the first time thieves have gone to the church but this is sure the first time this dastardly act took a violent form. In time past, it was breaking-in and stealing of money and some valuables but the Armed Robbers have become brazen thus using a day as this to perpetrate their evil.

Nigeria Attack bloodies Marketplace In Boko Haram Stronghold

At least 10 people were killed Saturday when a bomb exploded in the northeast Nigerian city of Maiduguri, witnesses said, in a region where the Islamist sect Boko Haram is pursuing a bloody insurgency.

Boko Haram, whose fight for an Islamic state in northern Nigeria has killed thousands and made the group the biggest threat to security in Africa's top oil producer, is increasingly targeting the civilian population.

The bomb went off at around 6 p.m. local time in a busy market area in Ajilari-Gomari near the city's airport, two witnesses and a police source said.

"I am at the scene now, it is very bad," local resident Ismaila Abdulraman told Reuters by telephone.

"Many men, women and children died. The fire service are on the ground now and they are bringing corpses of people and trying to put out the fire at the scene," Abdulraman added, saying he had already seen 10 bodies.

Dozens trapped in rubble

The final death toll was likely to be higher because dozens of people were trapped in the rubble, the witnesses said.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the bombing, but Boko Haram only communicates occasionally through Internet videos, days or weeks after attacks.

The military and police did not immediately respond to requests for official comment.

President Goodluck Jonathan started an intensified military push to end Boko Haram's four-and-a-half year insurgency almost a year ago but the bloodshed has not diminished. He is expected to run in a closely contested election next year.

The violence has been largely contained to Nigeria's remote northeastern rural areas on the borders with Cameroon and Niger, far from commercial hubs such as Lagos and Abuja, and from the southern oil fields. The attack in the northeast's biggest city marks a setback for Jonathan's military campaign.

"The insurgents targeted a busy area where they knew many people usually visit in the evening for commercial activities. It appears Boko Haram are in the city again," a policeman said, asking not to be named.

Dozens of school children were shot or burned to death in a rural region near the northeastern city of Damaturu last week.

Insurgents killed more than 300 people last month, mostly civilians, including in two other attacks that killed around 100 each, one in which militants razed a village and shot panicked residents as they tried to flee.

Western governments are concerned about Nigerian groups such as Boko Haram linking up with al-Qaeda-linked cells in other countries in the Sahel region, such as Mali, where France sent troops a year ago to oust Islamist militants.
